What is your first thought every morning?
What time is it, what day is it, what am I doing today?
What is something you do solely for you?
Taking myself on days out! To the botanical garden, to the garden center, and even just to the coffee shop. It gets me out of my own head and reminds me of all the reasons I like my life.
What is something you dread?
Seeing my dad's parents.
What is something you are looking forward to?
Short term: going away with my family as a surprise trip for my dad's fiftieth birthday. We’re going to Norway to see the northern lights!
Long term: Getting to spoil my future nieces/nephews/godchildren and being a safe person for them without the responsibilities and exhaustion of parenting them.
When do you feel most accomplished?
When I do well in a test/exam/essay.
What is something you regret investing in financially?
Amazon, Shein, etc. – companies that exploit their workers or that profit from unspeakable things.
What is something you regret investing in emotionally?
A childhood friend who has grown into someone I would otherwise consider rude and unlikeable, and who my friends tell me is a bad person, who I still consider family, unfortunately – despite us drifting apart in recent years.
What are three things you think are absolutely worth the investment?
(financially, emotionally, or time/energy-wise)
1. Mental and physical health
2. A quality winter coat
3. Education (not necessarily formally – reading, watching the news, etc)
When do you feel most creative?
When I’m organizing an event/party for my friends, and I take the time to choose a playlist, invitations, decoration, food, etc., or sometimes, I design a dream house both architecturally and decoratively (that I will never afford).
How often do you compare yourself to others? When?
By the hour, at least. Whenever I leave the house, or to be honest, my room.
What is one thing you’d like to thank your past self for?
Sticking with things I wasn’t initially good at – especially passing my driving test despite it taking months and making me cry regularly.
What is one thing you believe about your future self?
That she will go to therapy, live in London, be happy!
What is one thing you learned in childhood that you have now had to unlearn in adulthood?
My teacher, when I was six, told us that we were too grown up to cry unless we were in physical pain, or someone had died. My old therapist was not too happy about that one! At sixteen, I was finally able to cry without guilt
Have you ever felt pure joy? When?
My parents, sister, and I went to Munich for the Christmas markets nearly two years ago, and it (against the weather report) started snowing.
What is something that would feel really good to get off your chest?
I feel so lonely all the time – but I also like and need to be alone.
When do you feel most in your feminine energy?
Drinking wine, snacking, and gossiping with my friends to the point where we can’t stop laughing until we cry and nothing we say makes sense.
What is one interaction that changed your life?
At the time, my friend group arranged a birthday party for one of the girls unbeknownst to me, and the only one of the girls I’m still friends with asked me what I was wearing to go. This was the straw that broke the camel's back to make me stop being friends with them, become friends with some of my best friends to this day, decide to move schools for sixth form, and motivate myself to go to university.
What is something you want to give up?
Procrastination, and spending hours on my phone before bed. It’s not enjoyable and it eats into other things being enjoyable.
What is something you want to take up?
Maybe pilates?
What do you believe is a universal truth?
Everything is easier with loved ones supporting you and a good playlist.
BONUS: Tell me something good.
My parents are rescuing another dog!
