How are you, really?
Good! Thankful to be where I’m at because I’ve worked hard every step of the way to get here.
What is the greatest change you’ve made this year?
I went back to school last week.
What is something you hope never changes?
The amount of love I have for being a mother.
When do you feel most capable?
When I’m spending time with my babies (my own sons and also when I’m teaching my preschoolers) and when I’m having sex with my husband.
How do you nurture yourself?
Getting my nails done.
How do you nurture others?
I try to pour into others with everything that I have. I’ve been a little (maybe a lot) burnt out this past year but I’ll find my way again.
Is there anything you wish you had said but didn’t?
I don’t think so- I try to speak the truth always.
What is something that turns you on?
Loyalty and respect.
What is something that turns you off?
Hmmm. I guess deceitfulness.
When was the last time you walked away from something that no longer served you?
Everyday. I’m very mindful about what I direct my energy towards. I love the quote “what you’re not changing- you’re choosing”.
How often do you feel you achieve balance?
Never. I work full time at the same learning center that my sons attend I feel like there’s always at least one area that I’m slacking on. I am constantly hyper-fixated on my sons’ developments & milestones. I worry every single day if the decisions I make will have a negative impact on their growing neural axons, and I’ve traumatized them forever and ever. It keeps me up at night.
What is one risk you took that resulted in reward?
Getting pregnant at 21 with my boyfriend (now husband) at the time living at my parents’ house. Somehow it all worked out. And I’m thankful I had the ability to choose.
When do you feel most overwhelmed?
On the weekends when I have 76 trillion things to do in just 30 minutes (you know you have 30 minutes).
How do you move forward?
You just do. The only way out is through.
What is something that will always make you laugh?
My husband. He’s a goon.
What is something that will always make you cry?
Sharing birth stories with other moms. It’s my favorite conversation to have! Oh, and also The Boy in The Striped Pajamas movie. Like, are you serious??
Have you ever been betrayed?
Yes. People lie a lot.
What is your greatest temptation?
Red velvet.
What is one thing you feel is missing from your current life?
Hmmmm…a daughter!
What is one thing you can’t get enough of?
My husband (a goon).
BONUS: Tell me something good.
I think the world is gonna be okay guys! The children of today are so bright and so compassionate! They ask real questions & they care about people and animals and even the plants and the rocks and the trees. The current political climate is treacherous, but it’s gonna get better.
